Traction Therapy
A device that gently distracts the joints of the cervical spine, aimed at neck pain and the discomfort it sends down an arm.
Chapter 01
What the device does
Traction therapy uses a device to gently distract the joints of the cervical spine, the neck. Distraction means a slow, controlled pulling apart of the joints, not a stretch of the muscles around them.
The device does the work at a steady, measured pace. It is not a quick pull or a manual thrust like a chiropractic adjustment. It sits at its own pace, on its own table, as part of a visit.

What it is for
This office uses traction therapy for cervical disc issues, neck pain, and numbness or tingling that runs down into the arm or hand.
Those symptoms often trace back to pressure or irritation somewhere in the cervical spine. Traction is one tool used to address that area directly, rather than treating the arm or hand where the sensation is felt.
Chapter 03
Why the neck is treated differently
The cervical spine is the specific region this therapy is aimed at, by the practice's own description of the service. It is not a general full-spine tool.
That focus is deliberate. The neck carries a different range of motion and a different set of nerve pathways than the low back, so a therapy built around distracting those joints is kept to that region rather than applied everywhere.
